Baghdatis wins in rainy Munich

05/04/2010 - Munich, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Fifth-seeded Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis was among Tuesday's first-round winners in rainy Munich.

The former Australian Open runner-up Baghdatis needed to come from behind in order to beat German qualifier Peter Gojowczyk 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at the clay-court BMW Open, a French Open tune-up. It marked Baghdatis' first clay-court victory of 2010.

Rain forced the suspension or postponement of five other matches on Day 3, including one for top-seeded Croat Marin Cilic, who will face Germany's own Michael Berrer here on Wednesday at MTTC Iphitos.

Other Day-3 results saw Austrian Daniel Koellerer top oft-injured Croat Mario Ancic 7-6 (9-7), 7-5; Spanish qualifier Pere Riba overcome Slovak Lukas Lacko 5-7, 6-1, 6-2; Czech Jan Hajek humble French qualifier Alexandre Sidorenko 6-1, 6-2; Swiss Marco Chiudinelli charge past French qualifier Thierry Ascione 6-0, 6-4; and Simon Greul ground wild card and fellow German Nicolas Kiefer 7-5, 6-2.

Sixth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro was leading Belgian Kristof Vliegen 6-3 after one set and Ukrainian Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr. was up on Spaniard Santiago Ventura 6-5 in the first when play was called for the day.

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year

So far, Foye has averaged 9 PPG and 2.4 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. With his new role of starter, Foye’s numbers will definitely increase. In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.

Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
