Bombers sign QB Pierce

04/12/2010 - Winnipeg, MB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed quarterback Buck Pierce on Monday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to sign a player of Buck's ability and experience," said vice president of football operations and general manager Joe Mack. "He's a proven winner and is a great addition to our depth at the quarterback position."

The 29-year-old has played all five of his CFL seasons with British Columbia. Last year, Pierce played in 12 of 18 contests and finished with a team-leading 2,272 yards passing with 10 touchdowns.

"I'm thrilled to come to a place that wants me, a place with great tradition and deeply passionate fans," Pierce said. "I know the club is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year and with the Bombers being so entrenched in the city of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba, it's going to be a great place to play. I'm really looking forward to getting up there and doing whatever I can to help us win."

Pierce has compiled a record of 21-12-1 as a starter and a career quarterback efficiency rating of 93.6.
