Freeney says ankle is feeling "a lot" better

02/03/2010 -
Fort Lauderdale, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Indianapolis Colts defensive end
Dwight Freeney said Wednesday his ankle feels "a lot better than yesterday,"
though is still unsure if he will be able to play in the Super Bowl on Sunday
against New Orleans.
Wednesday morning, Freeney had the ankle elevated and said the injury, which
he suffered in the AFC Championship Game, is day-to-day. He added that it was
hard to put a definitive percentage on how it's healing, but said the swelling
had gone down a lot.
Freeney also said it's hard to project how he'll feel during the weekend, and
compared his current situation to past injuries.
"I've been on a Friday, 'I don't know if I can do it.' Then Saturday, wait a
minute. All of the sudden things are working well," Freeney said.
He brought up as an example a quadriceps injury he suffered early in the
season against Arizona. It was supposed to keep him out a couple weeks, but
didn't prevent him from playing in the Colts' next game.
Freeney said Tuesday he probably wouldn't practice during the week and will
instead continue receiving treatment from the medical staff on a daily basis.
The Colts have initially listed the Pro Bowl star as questionable, calling it
a low, third-degree ankle injury.
Freeney, named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2000s on Sunday night,
racked up 13 1/2 sacks this year in 14 games during the regular season. He was
hurt late in the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game, trying to avoid
Mark Sanchez after the Jets quarterback had just thrown a pass.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
