The out-patient procedure was performed by Dr. Arthur Manoli at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan, and is expected to sideline Monroe 3-to-4 weeks. The 6-foot-11 Monroe was taken seventh overall in the 2010 NBA draft and just finished competing for the Pistons' Summer League squad, with which he averaged 14.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.8 steals over five games while averaging 30.3 minutes of floor time. Monroe averaged 16.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over 34 games for Georgetown last season during his sophomore campaign. He earned Big East rookie of the year honors as a freshman, when he averaged 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over 31 games.
