"I had the clock in my head but I thought it might have been rushed. I had a good look, it just didn't fall. Give Houston credit, they played great all around defense." The Kings, meanwhile, dropped their second straight game and their fourth in five tries last night, a heartbreaker to the LA Lakers. Kobe Bryant drilled a game-winning three- pointer as time expired in that one, lifting the Lakers to a thrilling 109-108 win at Staples Center. Ahead 108-106, Sacramento's Ime Udoka had a chance to ice the game at the foul line but missed a pair of free throws with 4.8 seconds to play. After a timeout, Bryant set a pick on Sergio Rodriguez, who fell down to allow Bryant an open look on the left wing. The scoring leader nearly stepped out of bounds before narrowly getting off the game-winner as the buzzer sounded. "It's always exciting to hit those," Bryant said of the game-winner. "The back side was open, it was a matter of getting to the spot. I just wanted to get out of here, so I wanted to take a three." Spencer Hawes recorded a career-high 30 points and Beno Udrih added 19 points and 13 assists for the Kings, who played without Evans (sprained right ankle) for a third straight game. "I am so proud of our team but at the same time it's disappointing," Kings head coach Paul Westphal said. "[The Lakers] have a knack at the end of game that we are hoping to acquire." Evans, who is averaging 20.3 points per game, 5.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, is confident he will be back in the lineup tonight. "It feels pretty good," Evans told NBA.com "I had a workout Wednesday and it felt pretty good. The swelling went down. It's still sore, but not as bad as it was. I'll be ready to go." The Mavs have won three straight in the series, including a 104-102 thriller in Dallas on Nov. 20.
