Roy, Miller help Blazers beat Raptors

Basketball Betting Lines

02/24/2010 - Toronto, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brandon Roy poured in 20 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists, as the Portland Trail Blazers held off the Toronto Raptors, 101-87, at Air Canada Centre.

Andre Miller added 18 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds for the Blazers, who have won the first two games of a five-game road trip. Rudy Fernandez donated 17 points and seven boards off the bench for Portland, which was without center Marcus Camby because of a sprained right ankle.

"Last week we were a little off balance after the All-Star break," Roy said. "Now were starting to feel a little more comfortable as a group. Scoring 100 points tonight showed that. Now we got to keep it going on this road trip."

Hedo Turkoglu finished with 24 points for the Raptors, who had won two straight and five of six coming in. Jarrett Jack chipped in 18 points and eight assists. Andrea Bargnani added 15 points and six rebounds for Toronto, which had a franchise-best streak of 20 consecutive games with at least 100 points come to and end.

The Raptors were without star forward Chris Bosh for a third straight game on Wednesday due a sprained left ankle.

Down 62-54 with less than 7 1/2 minutes to go in the third, Toronto went on a 9-2 spurt to cut the deficit to one. Amir Johnson's deuce made it a 64-63 contest with 4:47 left.

The Blazers went on a 9-0 run moments later to build a 12-point lead. Fernandez's pair of free throws made it 78-66. Turkoglu made a pair of foul shots at the end of the quarter to cut the gap to 10 heading to the fourth.

The Raptors never got closer than seven in the fourth.

"We just let them have too many easy baskets," Turkoglu said. "I don't know what their fast break points were tonight but we let them have too many easy points."

The Blazers closed out the first quarter on an 8-2 spurt to take a 32-24 lead into the second.

Ahead 36-31 with less than 8 1/2 minutes to play until half, Portland put together a 15-3 burst. Fernandez and Juwan Howard each tallied four points during the flurry, which Roy capped with a trey from the corner for a 51-34 margin with less than four minutes remaining.

The Raptors fought right back with nine straight points to get within 53-47 at the break.

Game Notes

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Odds

Will he or won't he?  Now that the Dallas Cowboys have a new head coach in Wade Phillips, the big question will be: Does Terrell Owens stay with the team.

Jerry Jones continues to suggest that Terrell Owens will remain with the team.

"I've said that he's back, he's here, he's under contract," Jones said. "In the interviews I've just been through (to hire a new coach), it was very clear to me how highly he's thought of and how much of an impact he had on our offensive success."

Just to be sure though, Terrell Owens cleared out his locker and removed his name plate.

Terrell Owens was among the Cowboys most productive players this past season, catching 85 passes for 1,180 yards and a league-best 13 touchdowns.

But T.O. is due a $3 million roster bonus in June, then a $5 million salary this season. Cutting him before then would save a lot of money and headaches.

Aside from the questions surrounding Terrell Owens, the oddsmakers at MySportsbook.com have concerns over starting quarterback Tony Romo's state of mind and whether he will remain a starting quarterback.  It is also not known how players will adjust to new head coach, Wade Phillips.

Here are the football odds as seen at MySportsbook.com and subject to change after February 10, 2007 if not locked in prior to that date.
